Historic Cabin

1-2 persons

Built of heart pine, our historic 6 room log cabin (circa 1840) has lots of charm plus modern comforts. With its high porch, dock, firepit, treehouse & walking trails, no wonder the cabin is often featured in magazines, movies, & photoshoots. We have had several movies and commercials shot on the property.

The cabin has 2 bedrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs. There is a full bathroom located downstairs and a half bath upstairs. You can also use our outdoor shower/tub!

For years we’ve privately hosted artists, writers, & musician friends who loved the cozy cabin and our farm, now we’re offering to share it with you.

From time spent on the porch overlooking the water to evenings by the fire pit, the cabin and farm are perfect for solo travelers looking for a break or couples looking to reconnect.

PLEASE NOTE: We have 3 RV spots on our property located 100 + yards away from the cabin. So the outdoor spaces may have RVers as well. We are NOT an RV park, but rather a private farm and strict about the RVs we allow.

Wifi connection: you can try to link through our cabin hotspot in the cabin, but the internet service can be very spotty — we’re looking at you, AT&T. Some guests have no trouble with connection, but others struggle. The log cabin has so much thermal mass, it can be hard to get a good signal inside.

No tv in the cabin; you may have to actually talk to the person you’re traveling. There are indoor and outdoor games and books.

We have a dock that overlooks a 1.5 acre pond with our pet catfish you can feed!

There are numerous walking trails surrounded by old longleaf pines.

Kayaks are free to use for floating or tooling around the small pond.

Our grounds have hammocks, swings, a fire pit, and a picnic table.

There is a tree house and a natural obstacle course for guests.

Strolling the walking trails around the farm and feeding the huge catfish from the dock are favorite activities of guests. (Sorry no fishing allowed.)

Trail riding bicycles and dirt road fat tire bicycles on the scenic dirt roads and our private trails are favorite past times.

Also stargazing in front of the cabin is a great way to spend an evening. City lights have nothing on starry country nights.

The rental is for the entire cabin and access to all the amenities listed on the property.
We are a timber farm but also on our property we have 3 RV sites, and sometimes there will be guests from the RVs also enjoying the property.

Remember this is a 183-year-old authentic log cabin and is older than the Eiffel Tower, WOW!

We’ve never had anyone stay who didn’t love it. However, let’s make sure it’s the right fit for you. So READ ON!

Some of the cabin doorways are short by modern standards. If you’re over 6 ft. tall you’ll have to duck your head in 4 of the cabin’s 8 doorways.

We keep the cabin very clean, beautiful, and modernized with comforts. It has stacked log corners and was built using old-school building techniques. So you might see a bug. I know, I know, but it happens with this type of construction and in a cabin surrounded by trees and a pond.

We keep it plush (we’re talking goose-down pillows, pristine expensive white linens, extra fluffy towels), but this is a unique experience.

The cabin is quirky and ceilings are not perfect; there are bumps and bruises on this old pine lady. However, there’s a charm, beauty, and warmth that make it unforgettable and so cozy. And you’re looking for an unforgettable experience, right!

Location: This is a small timber farm surrounded by forests which means we have wildlife, turtles, deer, otter, lizards, all types of birds, and things that crawl. But you may not see anything except Ava, our gentle farm dog, who LOVES guests.
If you’re looking for location with a bistro around the corner … THIS is NOT your place. If you’re looking for a getaway, THIS IS the place.

Words to describe the location: woods, forest, dirt road, small town, rural.

If you just want to escape to peace and quiet, then the cabin and farm at Bliss Hills is for you.
